Recreational Surfing at Work
Twenty minutes of recreational surfing today can cost a company $8,000 per week per 100 employees. The problems can consist of:
-valuable bandwidth being compromised,
-security risks or virus entry via web to company network,
-offensive material,
-sometimes illegal entering and exiting a company's network,
-loss of employee productivity

More than 84% of employees admit to sending personal e-mails on company time. Confidentiality leaks and virus attacks cost billions in clean-up, recouping information leaks and lost customers.

E-mail
According to Return Path and Global Name Registry, 31% of E-mail address change annually.
-43% of changes are due to ISP changes
-16% of changes are to avoid spam
-12% of changes are because of a new physical address
- 8% of changes are to get a more attractive address

Jupiter Communications reports the following breakdown on current E-mail volume.
-34% is E-mail from friends and family
-17% is wanted E-mails from companies
- 8% is work or school related messages
- 6% miscellaneous
- 35% is unwanted E-mail (i.e. spam)

The Speed of Mind
The conscious mind has been found to process information within a range of 20-50 bits/second with an average of about 30 bits per second. Human speech is transmitted at 10,000 bits per second, a TV channel at 10 million bits per second.

The unconscious mind has been estimated to process information at a rate of 10 trillion bits per second.
